This award recognised the collaboration of Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation, Jamukurnu-Yapalikurnu Aboriginal Corporation, Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service, BHP and Creating Communities Australia over the last 5plus years to create a vision for Strong Culture and Strong Family in East Newman.

 

The judges felt the plan was an exceptional example of First Nations led planning processes, identifying critical infrastructure that will create ongoing, meaningful health, wellbeing, education and employment benefits.

 

The judges said the project was a shining example of community-led First Nations planning that other State’s should follow.
