Nyiyaparli participated in an on-country social surroundings engagement with BHP this past week consulting on the proposed Orebody 32 below water table mining project. We visited a few areas around the pit and pipeline alignment, and discussed water management, ongoing commitments, mine closure design and rehabilitation. It was great to see the changes that BHP have already made to their proposal based on previous feedback from Nyiyaparli, such as decreasing the vegetation clearance area.

Thanks to Debbie, Ethyl, Deb, Sue, Natalie, Thelma, Iesha and Jacinta for their questions and contributions! Thanks also to Liv and Chris, staff from the BHP environment and heritage teams and from Seasons in Newman for making it a successful trip!
