World Indigenous Business Forum

The WIBF for 2025 will be held from 28th – 30th October in Melbourne.

The WA Government is sponsoring up to 10 Aboriginal Entrepreneurs from small to medium businesses based in WA to attend the event.

Microsoft Excel Basics Workshop

Are you interested in learning some of the basics of excel? These skills might help with running a small business. 

The course is for 2 hours 12pm – 2pm on 16th September and organised by the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The workshop will be held at 3/3 Hunt Street, South Hedland – just across from the Karlka Office! 

 The workshop cost’s $22.26, and you can apply by following the link below.

Pilbara Supplier Summit – Newman

The Pilbara Supplier Summit is being held in Newman on September 25th at Mia Mia from 11am to 5:30pm. The event is being held by the Newman Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as CORE Hub. Check out the link below for more information about the summit. 

While registrations to have a desk for your business at the event have passed, you may use the webform on the page linked below to see if they allow late registrations.

Even without a desk at the event, you can still attend the event as this is a great chance to network with other local Newman businesses.

Small Business Links

Perhaps you are based in Perth, not in the Pilbara?There are always useful local business organisations that can help grow your skills and your networks.

Aboriginal Business Directory

The WA government has an online directory of aboriginal businesses. Many organisations check this directory if they are looking for an indigenous business to work with. 

If you would like to learn more about the directory then the Perth Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds a regular forum in Perth where you can learn more about the directory.

These sessions are run once a month.

Newman Supplier Summit

The CORE Innovation Hub and Newman Chamber of Commerce and Industry are hosting the Newman Supplier Summit 2025 at Mia Mia in Newman. 

This is a chance to meet with other Newman Businesses, meet industry leaders and grow your capability. 

The Summit will be held on 25th September from 11am or 5:30pm.

Hedland Economic Forum

Xero for Beginners

Xero is a popular accounting and invoicing tool for businesses. If you are considering starting a business, you might want to increase your skills by doing some training. This workshop is supported by the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This workshop will cover the basics of invoicing, quotes, billing and bank reconciliation. The workshop costs $22.26, runs for 2 hours from 12pm – 2pm on 31st July.
