About Us
Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate for the Nyiyaparli People, with approximately 450 members. The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners of around 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters in the east Pilbara, including Jigalong, Parnpajinya, pastoral leases and major mining areas.

This role is based at KNAC’s South Hedland office and will involve engagement across the Pilbara region.
Please note: Remote work arrangements and FIFO options will not be considered. Applicants must be willing and able to work from Hedland on an ongoing basis.
About the role
Reporting to the Community Programs Coordinator, the Nyiyaparli Health & Wellbeing Liaison Officer plays a key role in supporting Nyiyaparli people to access effective, culturally appropriate and accessible health services.
Working closely with Wirraka Maya AMS, WA Country Health Service (WACHS) and other health providers, the role focuses on coordinating health service visits, supporting access to regular check-ups and screenings, and promoting health education activities. A strong emphasis is placed on kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension prevention and early intervention.
This is a hands-on, community-focused role that requires strong relationship-building, coordination and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role include:
Coordinate health service visits: Arrange for health providers (e.g., Wirraka Maya AMS) to deliver screenings and check-ups at the KNAC office and other accessible locations.
Facilitate regular health check-ups: Support Nyiyaparli members in accessing routine screenings for kidney disease, diabetes, and hypertension.
Support community education efforts: Help organise workshops, family health days, and sessions where community members can learn about treatment options and disease prevention.
Ensure information is accessible: Work with KNAC and health providers to distribute educational materials and assist community members in understanding their health options.
Build relationships with health providers: Maintain regular communication with service providers to ensure ongoing and consistent health service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Strong organisational and coordination skills, with experience in planning community programs or events
Experience working with Aboriginal communities and understanding of culturally safe health practices
Ability to build relationships with service providers and community members
Knowledge or experience in health, community services, or related fields
Ability to support the distribution of health education resources and ensure community access to key information
Confidence in engaging with health providers and arranging service delivery (e.g., coordinating screenings, family health days)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn other software systems
Drivers License C Class minimum
National Police Check
Working with Children Check
Desirable:
Previous experience in health coordination, community liaison, or administration.
Understanding of chronic disease prevention, particularly in Aboriginal health contexts.
Experience working with KNAC or other Aboriginal organisations in the Pilbara.
