Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is the registered native title body corporate for the Nyiyaparli People. The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners and recognised native title holders of approximately 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters in the east Pilbara region.

KNAC is also the heritage service provider for the Nyiyaparli people.

We place a high value on our people and are now seeking to engage an experienced Native Title (NT) Compliance Officer based at South Hedland or work remotely with some travel to South Hedland required.

The role

Reporting directly to the Native Title Lawyer, this role is an opportunity to work with a great team in an operations capacity. 

Your primary objective will be to implement Native Title Agreement compliance and reporting systems, including tracking KNAC and proponent obligations and payments (Agreement Compliance Registers).

You will also:

  • Draft compliance and reporting correspondence under supervision of Native Title Lawyer
  • Implement Native Title Agreement record keeping and document control protocols
  • Work closely with Native Title Implementation Officer and other KNAC compliance officers 
  • Manage risks associated with Native Title compliance and reporting

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills particularly written communications
  • Ability to manage and analyse data and prepare accurate reports
  • Cultural awareness and experience and understanding necessary for working successfully in an Indigenous corporation or community-based organisation.
  • Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel

Paralegal experience and/or experience in working for native title representative bodies, service providers or RNTBCs would be highly regarded.
