GENERAL MANAGER – COMMERCIAL

Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is the Native Title representative group for the Nyiyaparli People with approximately 400 current members. The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners of approximately 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters in the east Pilbara region, including the township of Newman and the Aboriginal communities of Jigalong and Parnpajinya. 

KNAC has agreements in place with numerous mining companies for access to its lands – including with Rio Tinto, FMG, BHP Billiton and Roy Hill. Additionally, it has a growing portfolio of commercial interests, including management of two cattle stations.

KNAC is committed to achieving an economically and culturally strong Nyiyaparli community through leveraging the resources benefits of their lands and the protection of their native title rights and interests. 

The Position:

Under the direction of KNAC CEO and in collaboration with rest of the executive management team, this senior role will manage all commercial operations in the recently restructured Karlka Commerce Division, ensuring that it actively provides direct economic benefit to the corporation and its members. This will include:

  • Design and implementation of the strategic and operational plans; 
  • Financial management; 
  • Human resource management; and
  • Extensive liaison with a broad variety of stakeholders that includes commercial joint venture partners.


About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications; 
  • Experience leading educational and economic development as well as its sustainable community outcomes; 
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen; 
  • High level stakeholder engagement and communication skills; and
  • Financial literacy and analytical skills.

The successful applicant needs to possess a strong capacity to work productively with Aboriginal people, their culture and traditions. 

Intending applicants should be aware that the position is to be residentially based in the Pilbara, however periodic travel to Perth and interstate will be necessary.
