About Us:
Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is the registered native title body corporate for the Nyiyaparli People with approximately 450 current members.
The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners of approximately 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters in the east Pilbara region, including the Aboriginal communities of Jigalong and Parnpajinya, several pastoral leases and significant mining operations. Locations within the Determination Area are places of particular significance to the Nyiyaparli people, including ceremonial sites, songlines, permanent pools and natural resources.
Location:
The position can be based at KNAC’s South Hedland or Newman Office.
Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Karlka Commerce General Manager, the Employment and Training Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing employment and training programs that increase sustainable employment opportunities for Nyiyaparli people.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement employment and training initiatives that improve workforce participation and sustainable employment outcomes for Nyiyaparli people.
Coordinate and support Employment and Training Engagement Plans with proponents and industry partners.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders, Indigenous Liaison Officers, training providers and community organisations to strengthen employment pathways and workforce retention.
Identify and promote internal employment opportunities across KNAC programs including Rangers, Pastoral Innovation, Health and Wellbeing, Heritage and Environmental programs.
Develop and maintain a KNAC Member workforce register and skills profile to support workforce planning and recruitment outcomes.
Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the Regional Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) Program, ensuring compliance with contractual, financial and reporting requirements.
Provide leadership and supervision to the RJED Landcare Supervisor and support positive team performance and development outcomes.
Coordinate and expand the BHP Traineeship Program, including onboarding, mentoring, engagement activities and stakeholder liaison.
Develop and maintain relationships with employment and training providers to improve access to culturally appropriate training and employment opportunities for KNAC Members.
Represent KNAC at employment, training and community engagement events.
Maintain high standards of Work Health & Safety (WH&S), complying with all relevant policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Vocational Education and Training.
Proven experience developing and implementing employment and training programs or initiatives.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, particularly within Aboriginal and community-based environments.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder communications.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office systems.
Current Driver’s Licence.
Understanding of Aboriginal training needs and commitment to working collaboratively towards empowerment, training and development.
Desirable:
Experience working with Nyiyaparli or other Aboriginal communities.
Knowledge of Nyiyaparli culture, traditions, and language.
Familiarity with Work Health & Safety (WH&S) requirements.
