Recently, as part of the Nyiyaparli ranger program, 5 Nyiyaparli attended a Department of Biodiversity, Conservation & Attractions (DBCA) fire training course. There were lots of laughs across the week as the team learnt about prescribed burning and wildfire suppression methods.
Well done to Jayleen, Jason, Carol-Lee, Carol-Anne, and Beverley who are now qualified trainee DBCA fire crew members!!!
Big thanks to DBCA trainers Moose, Pat, Eleanor, and Lachie, and to the Yindjibarndi Rangers who joined us for the week.
We look forward to getting out on-Country in June to work alongside DBCA in the Fortescue Marsh prescribed burning project, which aims to protect old spinifex habitat on the southern edge of the Marsh, which is important habitat for the critically endangered Night Parrot.
