About KNAC:

Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is the registered native title body corporate holding the native title in trust for the Nyiyaparli People. The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners of approximately 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters in the east Pilbara region, including the township of Newman, Western Australia.

KNAC has the responsibility for compliance with a number of significant mining related Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs), acts as the Local Aboriginal Corporation (LAC) and is a key stakeholder in the Nyiyaparli Benefit Management Structure.

KNAC’s mission is to consistently maintain best practice corporate stewardship, from this solid foundation KNAC will have the capacity and capability to respond to the changing needs and aspirations of members. KNAC’s vision for its members is that they are equipped and enabled to realise their aspirations. 

The Role:

Based in South Hedland and reporting to the Heritage & Land Manager, you will have responsibility for all heritage services delivery specifically in coordination of heritage surveys and their deliverables, ensuring excellent levels of service delivery.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in archaeology, anthropology, or another heritage related field;
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage management issues;
  • Knowledge of Western Australian Aboriginal legislation 
  • An understanding of the contemporary factors influencing Aboriginal People and Communities;         
  • Well-developed inter-personal skills;
  • The ability to successfully work remotely and autonomously.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS)

Remuneration:

This is a permanent appointment and comes with a competitive salary and role benefits. 

Location:

Please note that this opportunity is located in South Hedland.  Although the preference is for the appointee to be residential (rental assistance provided), a FIFO arrangement could be also accommodated.
