KNAC is currently updating its Strategic Plan and resetting our purpose, priorities and goals for the next 3 years.

We have continued to develop and responding to the needs of our members since the last plan was created in 2020, including the:

  • Restructure of our Commercial arm
  • Establishment of a Community programs area
  • Expansion of our Members Services support
  • Significant increase in Heritage Services
  • Establishment of a Nyiyaparli Language revival program
  • Establishment of a Nyiyaparli Ranger program
  • Establishment of Environmental Survey programs and support
  • Establishment of Karlka Pastoral operations (Marillana and Ethel Creek stations)
  • Development of a Healthy Country, Healthy People Plan
  • Significant increase in mine activity and responsibilities to ensure protections and agreements are in place
  • More Native Title agreement reviews and requests
  • Establishment of a KNAC Office on country in Newman
  • Development of Member Business and Member Employment Support Policies and Strategies
  • Changes to our Corporate structure
  • Establishment of additional governance structures (like the Karlka Advisory Group and Agreement Review Committee, Finance & Audit Committee, Governance & Risk Committee, Karlka Commerce Boards, KNAC Heritage Committee etc)

These changes are on top of our core work managing and protecting Nyiyaparli Native Title and Heritage for the benefit of current and future generations through agreement negotiation, implementation and compliance. They also generate more activity, expectation and priorities- including current Renewable Energy and Investment policy development and the creation of the Fortescue Marsh Joint Management Plan at hand.

So we are fortunate to have also accessed more resources (including great staff) during this time- but we also need to update our Strategic Plan to reflect all this, and to set a clear, relevant path for the next three year!

To get started we will be holding a series of in person and online member only session. We will share information on where the corporation is now and seek feedback on where we are going and how we can get there. You can also find out more about them and this process on our website or by contacting Abbie Scott directly at executiveassistant@karlka.com.au and you can view the current plan on our website at About Us – Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC or get a copy from our office.
