Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is the registered native title body corporate for the Nyiyaparli People with approximately 400 current members.

The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners of 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters in the East Pilbara region, including Newman, Jigalong, Parnpajinya, pastoral leases, and significant mining operations. Locations within the Determination Area are places of significance to the Nyiyaparli people, including ceremonial sites, songlines, permanent pools and natural resources. 

Location

This role is based at KNAC’s Newman Office. 

Position Purpose 

The Newman Projects Support Officer is responsible for providing project coordination and administrative support to Karlka Commerce, assisting with the development and implementation of key Newman based projects. The role will work closely with the General Manager – Karlka Commerce and Office Manager (Newman) to progress KNAC’s strategic initiatives, including partnerships with the Shire of East Pilbara, local businesses, and the wider Newman community. 

This position will also provide administrative support for KNAC’s Pastoral Company governance project, assisting with reception duties, accommodation support, and member services when required. 

 

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include: 
  • Assist in planning and delivering KNAC-aligned projects, providing operational and task management support. 
  • Coordinate community events, prepare reports, and facilitate consultations to ensure alignment with community needs. 
  • Act as the main contact for community inquiries, managing event logistics and fostering engagement with local businesses and trianing providers. 
  • maintain project records, schedules, and stakeholder data while supporting KNAC’s Pastoral governance and funding applications. 
  • build strong stakeholder relationships, promote KNAC programs, and represent the organisation at meetings and events. 
  • Ensure WH&S compliance through risk assessments, safety checks, and promoting a safe, respectful workplace.
 

Qualifications & Experience 

Essential experience and qualifications include:

  • Proven experience in project coordination, administration or community engagement. 
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relatinoship-building skills. 
  • Strong organisational and time managmeent abilities. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management.
  • Valid Drivers Licence.
