NIAA Indigenous Ranger Program (IRP) Funding Secured!

KNAC has been successful in securing three years of funding through the National Indigenous Australians Agency’s (NIAA) Indigenous Ranger Program Expansion Round 2 Grant to support the continued growth of the Nyiyaparli Ranger Program.

The funding is for just under $3million (GST inclusive) over 3 years from FY26-FY28 with funding allocated to Ranger/TO wages, support staff and operational costs related to the delivery of the Nyiyaparli People and Country Plan (Fortescue Marsh) 2023-2032.

The funding will provide more opportunities for more Nyiyaparli to work on country in activities that complements the work we already do with partners, such as:

  • Establishment of baseline data for fauna species
  • Vegetation surveys to monitor cattle impacts
  • Right-way fire management
  • Monitoring of papa health at yintas and removal of invasive species
  • Kids on Country
