On Friday 2nd December, the Nyiyaparli People & Country Plan (Fortescue Marsh) 2023-32 was presented to Nyiyaparli Common Law Holders. The plan outlines Nyiyaparli’s goals and aspirations for caring for Country across the greater Fortescue Marsh area and provides a framework for the Nyiyaparli Ranger Program and what activities the Rangers will do on Country. It is the result of several consultations with both Senior and younger Nyiyaparli, including on Country trips, over the last 12 months, and also draws on past cultural mapping work done by Elders whose legacy continues to live on.

KNAC wishes to thank all those involved in its development, with particular thanks to Rob Thomas of Rob Thomas Consulting for his invaluable assistance in facilitating the on-Country trips, and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation & Attractions and Rio Tinto for their funding of the project.

Thanks also to the team at Coongan for capturing the process and producing this wonderful video
